Skateboarding is now officially allowed in the streets of downtown Victoria.
The bylaw was approved last year, but this week it’s been put into action.
New signs show bike lanes can also be used by skateboarders.
Roller skates and non motorized scooters are also allowed as long as they follow the same rules of the road as cyclists.
For 25 years, skateboarding was not allowed in downtown Victoria, known as the red zone.
A local Victoria resident petitioned to have the bylaw rewritten after he had his skateboard seized, saying the bylaw was outdated.
