A drunk man suffering from mental health issues picked up a child at the Sidney Save-On-Foods on Friday
Sidney/North Saanich RCMP say a suspicious man picked up a child at the Save-On-Foods on Beacon Avenue in Sidney Friday.
Store management witnessed it and alerted both the mother and police.
It was determined that the man had mental health issues and was under the influence of alcohol at the time.
He was found to be in breach of a court-order preventing him from being in the store so he was arrested and later released.
Police are recommending charges for the breach.
Investigators say there is no indication the man had any intention of abducting the child.
