WATCH: “The robbed that smiles, steals something from the thief”, and the Vancouver Island Shakespeare Arts Society is trying to smile after being robbed this weekend
Thieves broke into the group’s performance tent at Fisherman’s Wharf sometime between 12 a.m. and 6 a.m. on July 2, taking lights, vests, blankets and even two of the tent walls.
But the show must go on and somehow it did .
“We were able to scramble around and find some walls that we could put up temporarily inside as well as get new lights,” said Steve Duck with the Vancouver Island Shakespeare Arts Society.
“The things that were taken have little or no value, I don’t know what someone would do with nine foot by 20 white wall,” Duck said.
The lights were insured and have been replaced but the Society is asking for blankets to be donated for the summer season.
Those blankets will then be given to local shelters.
