There was intensive search today for teenage boy who was swept away by the rapids in Princess Louisa Inlet, northeast of Powell River.
The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Victoria says the search was centered around the Malibu Rapids, an area only accessible by boat or by air.
The JRCC was alerted around 1:15 p.m. that a teen from the Malibu Club Camp had slipped and fallen into the water and had not been seen since.
An RCAF Buffalo aircraft was dispatched from CFB Comox, and coast guard vessels as well as volunteers in small boats also joined the search.
This is a very concerning situation, and we have called upon all of our available resources to help in the search efforts said Cst Harrison Mohr with Sunshine Coast RCMP.
We are working closely with RCM SAR to make the best use of all of our search capabilities in this remote and challenging area.
The search was called off for the night at 9 p.m, and will continue in the morning.
