Federal fisheries scientists are investigating after a headless sea lion was found on a Comox Valley beach.
D-F-O officials say it appears the animals head was cut off and the sea lion’s skull removed.
Fisheries officers say they are currently investigating several sudden sea lion deaths in the northern Strait of Georgia.
Ten sea lion carcasses have washed up between Union Bay and Campbell River in the past week.
Fisheries scientists will be performing necropsies on the animals tomorrow.
