WATCH: Saren Azer has made his first public statement through social media sharing videos and photos of his children smiling and laughing
Videos posted to Facebook show the four Azer children playing at a playground, and dancing at a wedding.
Rather than appearing unsafe, or in danger, they are laughing and acting silly.
The video was posted on a public Facebook page created this week called ‘Azer Children’.
Created by the children’s father, Saren Azer, it features several videos and photos of the children.
In August, the RCMP issued an arrest warrant for Saren Azer on charges of abduction.
11-year-old Sharvahn, 9-year-old Rojevahn, 7-year-old Dersim and Meitan, just three-years-old, were taken from their Comox Valley home on a trip to Europe with their father, but never returned.
Their mother, Alison Azer, has made countless emotional pleas over the last nine months for the safe return of her children.
She recently spoke at a Mother’s Day rally in Vancouver.
“Think of me when you’re kissing your kids, those are the moments that are so precious and I miss them so much,” she pleaded tearfully.
A campaign was launched with thousands of letters written to the Canadian government urging officials to take action to bring the Azer children home.
But now Saran Azer is reaching out to the public himself, sharing a very different picture of his children’s lives.
In a lengthy written appeal he says of his youngest child Meitan “he is thriving and amazingly happy. He is adored and loved by so many of his uncles, aunties, cousins and friends. His life is filled with joy. He is a child again.”
He makes similar statements about his other children before ending with “my children will be cared for by those who love them and celebrate them the most, ‘their family'”.
But for family, friends, and supporters here in Canada, the best place for the four children is on Vancouver Island, with their mother, who no question, misses them desperately.
In a statement, Alison Azer writes “This desperate attempt to distract and confuse family friends and supporters here in Canada will not break our spirit or determination to see my kids safely returned to Canada.”
