Retired Victoria Fire Chief Doug Angrove has died

Retired Victoria Fire Chief Doug Angrove has passed away in Kelowna after a battle with cancer.

A message posted on the Victoria Firefighters IAFF Local 73 Facebook page Friday evening reads,

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Retired Fire Chief Doug Angrove.

Doug fought a hard battle with cancer but unfortunately was unable win his fight.

Team Doug will hold you in our hearts and memories as we Ride To Conquer Cancer.

Members, past and present, of the Victoria Fire Department will miss you greatly and send our deepest condolences to your family.

Rest In Peace Chief.”

Angrove retired in July 2011 after 32 years as a firefighter.

He started his career with the Nanaimo Fire Department, where he spent 24 years.
 
He joined the Victoria Fire Department as Deputy Chief in 2003 and serving as Fire Chief from 2006 to 2011.

Doug Angrove was 59-years old.

Memorial service details have yet to be released.
