RCMP release photo of man wanted in Sidney pizzeria robbery

Police have released a photo of the man who allegedly robbed a Sidney pizzeria on Saturday.

 

RCMP have released a photo of a suspect in an armed robbery at a south-end Sidney pizzeria over the weekend.

Sidney/North Saanich RCMP said just before 1 a.m. on Saturday, a man entered the business and went behind the counter. Allegedly brandishing what appeared to be a black handgun in his right hand, the man told an employee to empty the till.

Police said the suspect got an undisclosed amount of cash and fled through the front door on foot. Police, including a tracking dog, were unable to find the suspect. Officers did find what is believed to be clothing worn by the suspect. The clothing will be sent off for forensic testing.

The suspect is described as Caucasian, approximately 6-feet tall, in his late 20s to early 30s, with blond hair and blond eyebrows and a stocky build. He was seen wearing a black long-sleeved hoodie, green camouflage pants, dark shoes, a balaclava and gloves. Police said the suspect spoke with “a smoker’s voice.”

Police are asking anyone who may have been awake or around the area of Sidney near Bevan Avenue, 5th Avenue, Ocean Avenue, Oakville Avenue or Highway 17 between midnight and 2 a.m. on Aug 12 to contact Sidney/North Saanich RCMP at 250-656-3931, even if they believe they may not have ssen the suspect.
