The largest integrated grain farm on Vancouver Island is set to expand thanks to a $20,000 investment from the B.C. government
The North Saanich-based Roost Farm Centre is a working farm complete with a winery and bakery.
The wheat grown and milled on the farm is used to make bread on site.
The $20,000 investment through the province’s Buy Local program will be used to market the farm as a destination, with the goal of attracting more visitors.
The funding could be used for the farm’s website, or for local advertising, to make sure the community knows about it.
The Buy Local program has received $8 million in B.C. government funding since 2012 to increase sales of locally grown and processed agri-food and seafood products within the province.
