A new oceanfront park has opened up a privately owned plot in Colwood to the public.
The 10 Acre beach park opened in a festive atmosphere Saturday, with beach volleyball and live music as residents got to know the Colwood spot that until now has been private and off limits. The park is part of the huge new Royal Bay development and developers wanted to see people out enjoying the 1.4 kilometrers of shoreline that make up the project.
Since it’s a construction zone, the park located off Metchosin Road will only be open on weekends for now. But long term the developers and Colwood would like to see it turned into city owned park.
