It’s a different kind of ship
A very different kind of ship is now docked at Ship Point in Victoria’s Inner Harbour.
Crews were busy installing what looks like a fleet of large paper boats.
It’s all part of a new public art project called Pop-Up Ships.
The design features seating inspired by origami paper boats.
The Pop up Ships concept was selected from nearly 50 submissions, with entries coming from as far away as Denmark and Indonesia.
According to Karri Milton with the Downtown Victoria Business Association, the project is designed to make the inner harbour a more attractive destination.
“It’s one of a few pieces that we want to bring into the area so we can show case the Inner Harbour and beatify it and attract people to this area.”
Organizers are hoping Pop Up Ships at Ship Point will be in place until next summer.
