Actions of police leading up to four-vehicle Saanich crash won’t be investigated by B.C.’s police watch dog
B.C.’s police watch dog won’t be investigating a serious four-car crash in Saanich over the weekend.
The crash happened late Saturday afternoon on Quadra Street near the Pat Bay Highway, shutting down the area to traffic for hours as police investigated.
Two people were rushed to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Witnesses say the crash was preceded by a police attempt to stop an erratic driver with an ‘N’ sticker who tried to flee from police.
As a result, the case was referred to the Independent Investigations Office. But the IIO has determined there was no serious harm, as defined by the Police Act, and they will not be investigating the actions of Saanich Police.
