WATCH: Conservation officials called after cougar sighting in residential Saanich neighbourhood
Police are warning the public after a Saanich cougar sighting.
It happened in a residential neighbourhood off Wilkinson Road Friday night.
Saanich Police were called to Miller Avenue just after 9pm Friday but couldn’t locate the big cat.
The B.C. Conservation Officer Service was notified and police are advising people who live nearby to be cautious, especially when it comes to children and small pets.
The most recent confirmed cougar incident in Saanich happened in March.
Two cougars were trapped and destroyed after they killed several lambs at a Charlton Road farm.
