Police looking for man who tried to get an 11-year-old boy into van in Saaanichton

RCMP are asking for help in identifying a man who attempted to get an 11-year-old boy into his van in Saanichton on Sunday.

According to police, at around 12:45 p.m., the boy was approached by a man driving a van near Stautw Road at Church Road. The man asked the boy to get into the vehicle. The boy did not recognize the driver and did not get into the van. He immediately left, found an adult and reported the incident to police, RCMP said.

The suspect is described as First Nations, approximately 30-years-old, with a moustache and a beard. He was wearing a black ball cap with orange dots around it.

Police said the van was black with tinted side and back windows. It had a sticker or picture on the back of the van near the licence plate, and possibly a sunroof.
