Effort aimed at getting as many drunk drivers off the roads
Police are out in full force this weekend, hoping to nab drunk drivers and reduce the carnage on our roads.
Now that it’s patio and summer party season, they’re doing a three-day counterattack blitz.
Saanich Police and Victoria Police are teaming up with the CRD Integrated Road Safety Unit and ICBC to conduct multiple CounterAttack road blocks around Greater Victoria.
The concentrated effort is aimed at getting as many drunk drivers off our roads as possible.
Close to 80 people, including 11 victims on Vancouver Island, die every year in B.C. due to drunk drivers and almost half those deaths are during the summer months.
The bulk of impaired driving crashes are on Friday, Saturday and Sundays.
