April has been working as a journalist since 2005 after graduating from the BCIT Broadcast Communciations program. Prior to that she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia. April started her career in the Okanagan before moving to Vancouver Island and starting with CHEK News in 2012. April has worked as a news reporter most of her career but recently moved into the role of executive producer. You’ll also find her filling in on the anchor desk from time to time.

One of the highlights of April’s career was winning a Jack Webster Fellowship in 2009 that allowed her to travel to Honduras and Peru where she reported on stories that had a connection to her hometown of Penticton. She also received the national Dave Rogers short feature award for a story about a Vernon hockey fan with cerebral palsy who was embraced by a minor hockey team from Alaska.

April lives in Central Saanich with her husband and two boys, their massive St. Bernard-Lab X Lewis and cat Simon. If she’s not at work you will most likely find her at one of the Island’s many fine but chilly hockey rinks cheering on her boys.
