Once polluted and full of garbage, many people are hitting the water on the Gorge
Today was a perfect day to take to the water and that’s just what dozens of people did today on the Gorge.
At Banfield Park in Vic West, swimmers of all ages enjoyed the sun and the beautiful, clean water.
It wasn’t always this way, the gorge was polluted and strewn with garbage for decades.
These days, it considered one the best swimming holes in the region.
Swimmers today said, “I’ve been swimming off of here for about a year and during the summer I go pretty much every day.”
“It can get cold when you’re first in it but then you get used to the water.”
“This is my absolutely favourite swimming hole.”
“I like it cause it kind of expresses people who really love to swim and its fun when it’s really hot out.”
“We at the Gorge Swim Fest Society are all about promoting swimming in the Gorge, it’s the cleanest and warmest and the closest water for most of the people in Victoria and we want to get people down.
Gorge Swim Fest will take place on August 7th at Banfield Park in Vic West and will feature bands, food, trucks, crafts, games and of course swimming.
