The Peninsula Panthers Junior B hockey club announced earlier Monday that players will now be mandated to wear full cage or visor helmets for the 2017/18 VIJHL season.
Team officials say the full protection is motivated by player safety in an effort to reduce face and dental injuries.
The team says they will become the first junior team in western Canada to make the change.
