Parksville will honour Michelle Stilwell this Friday following another successful summer games for the paralympian.
The City has declared September 23rd “Michelle Stilwell Day”.
The decision was made by council at meeting on Monday night.
Stilwell won two gold medals in Rio including over the weekend while setting a world record in T54 100m wheelchair race.
The MLA for Parksville-Qualicum and Minister of Social Development and Social Innovation has now won 6 gold medals while competing at four summer Paralympic Games.
“Michelle’s accomplishments are exceptional and on behalf of Council, it is an honour and pleasure to declare Michelle Stilwell Day in our City,” said Mayor Marc Lefebvre.
The 42-year old Stilwell responded on Twitter writing “WOW! I am speechless, what an incredible honour, thank you so much!”
