Victoria’s long-awaited Johnson Street Bridge is close to coming to the Capital City.

The bridge itself is being constructed in China, and the City of Victoria gave an update today with pictures on the progress of the construction.

The City says the trusses and the rings are now being stood upright in the position they will be installed in here in Victoria and are supported at each end.

Critical components such as the deck cross beams and counterweights have been installed with their dimensions checked. Engineers will be checking the calculations to ensure the steel fabrications meets design standards.

Traffic going across the current Johnson Street Bridge in Victoria will be disrupted starting next week, as crews complete curb, gutter and paving work, and the work is expected to last approximately five weeks. Crews will be working from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Check out some of the photos of the new bridge being constructed below.
