“Christy Clark: Behind the Smile” hits bookstores today
With the provincial election less than a year away, a biography of Premier Christy Clark hit bookstores today.
Written by former Liberal M.L.A. Judi Tyabji, “Christy Clark: Behind the Smile”, is a profile of Canada’s longest serving female first minister.
The book is an unauthorized biography, but Tyabji spoke with Clark four times.
Clark revealed the difficulty facing a mainly hostile Liberal caucus during her first two years as Liberal party leader.
“Her biggest challenge when she became leader, came from very close to her, within the party, within the cabinet, within the caucus.
She talks about that very candidly.
If she’s talked about that before, I’ve never seen it.
So, that was very revealing.
She’s been able to win over some of her harshest critics.
And I think that’s to her credit.”
Tyabji says the 2015 yoga controversy involving the Burrard Street Bridge in Vancouver motivated her to write the book.
Her last book in 2002 focused on former NDP Premier Glen Clark.
