45 year old Marni Offman worked in Fleming’s constituency office for six years
A former employee in NDP MLA Rob Fleming’s office is now charged with fraud, forgery and theft over $5,000.
The charges against 45 year old Marni Ruth Offman were approved after special prosecutor Dirk Ryneveld reviewed the case on behalf of crown counsel.
The offences allegedly occurred during her employment with the Swan Lake constituency office on Hillside Avenue in Victoria between March 24, 2009 and November 28, 2015.
Fleming issued a statement Tuesday night saying a former employee at his constituency office would be charged with theft and forgery, “I made a complaint to the Victoria Police Department after making the shocking discovery that funds were missing from my office.”
During her brief court appearance Wednesday, B.C. Provincial Court Judge Evan Blake issued a number of conditions, including ordering Offman to surrender her passport, Nexus card and any visas.
Offman’s next court appearance is August 11th.
