WATCH: Nanaimo Law Enforcement Torch Run raises thousands of dollars for Special Olympics BC
Police officers in Nanaimo joined some very special athletes on Saturday to raise money for an important cause.
They took part in the 6th annual Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR), held in support of Special Olympic athletes.
The five-kilometre run and walk took off from Maffeo Sutton Park and made its way along the Nanaimo waterfront.
It’s always a popular event and it gets bigger each year, bringing together friends, family and supporters of law enforcement and Special Olympics BC.
“Today’s event was great,” says Cst. Gary O’Brien of the Nanaimo RCMP. “We had about 80 participants, all from the community from law enforcement to special Olympics. This event in Nanaimo raises more money than any other law enforcement torch run held in B.C.”
