Nanaimo RCMP are investigating a violent assault.
A visiting businessman met another man in a licensed establishment.
They then went to a hotel room where the victim was allegedly assaulted, threatened, tied up and robbed.
He sustained numerous injuries and was taken to hospital where he required surgery
Police are now looking for a 30 year old white male.
He is balding in front and has a moustache and goatee.
The suspect was last seen wearing a white short-sleeve shirt, dark jeans and flip flops.
RCMP also say they are investigating the attack as a possible hate crime against the LGBTQ community.
Police are asking anyone with any information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
