Nanaimo RCMP officers find a grenade during a drug search
The search of a Nanaimo home for illegal drugs came to an abrupt halt when police officers found an explosive device inside.
The search was taking place a house in South Nanaimo late yesterday afternoon after four people were arrested on drug charges.
But when police entered the house they soon came across a grenade and quickly evacuated the building.
The Explosive Device Unit was called in from Vancouver today to assess the threat.
They determined the grenade was inactive.
Police say a quantity of drugs was found, including cocaine, fentanyl and methamphetamine.
One person remains in custody and faces possible charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking.
