A Nanaimo man is back in the community after being sentenced for indecently exposing himself again.

This latest incident happened at Maffeo Sutton Park on May 6. A woman saw Mark Nieuwejaar exposing himself near the playground. She snapped several pictures before he exposed himself a second time. She called 911 and Mounties arrested Nieuwejaar in the park.

He was held in jail until he pleaded guilty to one charge of indecent exposure in late July.

Nieuwejaar was sentenced to time served and handed a two-year probation order. His nine conditions include a ban on going to public parks, public swimming areas or community centres where anyone under 16 years old might be present.

He is also not allowed to hold any position where he’s in a position of trust with children under 16-year-old.

Nieuwejaar was last sentenced in October of 2015 for indecently exposing himself to a woman going around the trail at Westwood Lake. His criminal record also includes two previous sex assaults.
