Monday is World Water Day and the start of Canada Water Week, an event to educate and understand the role of water in our communities.
Today, Nanaimo hosted a free community event at Bowen Park.
The event featured a speakers series and info booths with the theme of how we can protect, learn and celebrate water.
Topics included rain water harvesting, indoor water conservation, and lawn and gardening alternatives.
Nanaimo has had an above average rainfall this winter, but the event organizer says it can also get very dry during the summer making water conservation a priority all year round.
