There were some tense moments in Nanaimo today — as RCMP responded to a bomb square at a local high school.
Police swarmed Nanaimo District Secondary this morning after a bomb threat was received.
The school was evacuated.
Police dogs were brought in to assist investigators to determine whether the threat was real.
It was believed to be a hoax, but police weren’t taking any chances.
The nearby Aquatic Centre was also searched but nothing was found at either location.
After the area was cleared, students were allowed to return to class.
Nanaimo RCMP say false threats like this tie up valuable police resources and charges can be laid if the person responsible is caught.
