Lake Cowichan is a hot spot for music lovers this weekend with a long list of acts on the stage for the inaugural Legends Valley Music Festival. But music isn’t the only focus at the event.
While organizers say they want to set a high music standard for future festivals, it is also a cannabis expo, with an exhibition featured with licensed producers on hand for the purpose of education.
There is also a competition called the Bio Cup for cannabis growers. Many festival goers tried many of the products that were featured at the booths on location at the Lake Town Ranch Music and Recreation Park.
“So we’re not here selling pot, it’s not a pot festival, it’s actually a community event where we’re providing information and education for the medicinal cannabis industry and their patients,” said festival producer John Donnelly.
Actors from the Trailer Park Boys television show are in Lake Cowichan to announce the winners of the Bio Cup, to be awarded in several cannabis categories. The festival started Friday and runs until Sunday night.
