The Victoria Shamrocks dropped game one of their WLA final series against the Maple Ridge Burrards on Wednesday night at the Q Centre.
Despite out-shooting the visiting Burrards 53-43, The Shamrocks were stopped in their tracks by Maple Ridge netminder Frank Scigliano, who made some fantastic stops in an 11-6 victory on the road. The home crowd got out of their seats early, as the ‘Rocks took an early 2-0 lead, but it was all Maple Ridge after that. The Burrards found themselves up 8-3 heading into the final frame, and closed out the third period for the pivotal game one win.
The Shamrocks are coming off a grueling seven game series against the Burnaby Lakers, and need to find a way to regroup and knot up the series when they head to Maple Ridge for game two tomorrow night.
