Oceanside RCMP have provided more information about a manhunt that took place in Parksville Wednesday evening.
Officers were called to the Oceanside subdivision of San Pariel aftet reports of a disturbance around 7:30 pm.
The complainant reported a man in distress who was in a vehicle with a woman.
He was reportedly yelling, screaming, and possibly kicking at his windshield.
As police attended, the 24 year old Nanoose Bay man fled on foot into the woods.
Officers began a search and were helped by the Vancouver Island RCMP helicopter that had been passing by at the time.
Tim Allix posted a photo of an RCMP Helicopter on Facebook and wrote:
“This helicopter was circling over our neighborhood for a few hours earlier today, and then we received an email saying it was a police manhunt, and to stay inside and lock our doors and windows. In Parksville?”
Kyla Karakochuk wrote on Twitter “When we were driving home from Parksville we saw about five police cars by the bridge in town looking for someone.”
Police say the man was not located although they are aware of the his identity.
It does not appear for now that any charges will be laid but officers do want to speak with him.
The RCMP say that it was an isolated incident with no danger to others.
