Police are investigating the fatal stabbing of a 44-year old man in Duncan.
North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP were called to a home around 3:50 a.m.on Wednesday following a report that a man had been wounded.
They found him suffering from several stab wounds to the upper body.
He was transported to Cowichan District Hospital in serious condition.
He later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
A 46-year old Duncan man was arrested at the scene, and remains in police custody.
Police are continuing their investigation and the home remains behind police tape at this time.
North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP Uniform Division Commander Sgt. Kurtis Bosnell says that the incident does not appear to be a random act.
He says that the victim is a former Island resident who was known to the suspect.
Investigators with the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit and North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP are working on the case.
