A man convicted of a grisly murder near Port McNeill, and another one in Manitoba, has been found dead inside a Saskatchewan psychiatric facility where he was being held.
Traigo Ehkid Andretti was found unresponsive in his cell yesterday at the Regional Psychiatric Centre in Saskatoon and couldn’t be revived.
In 2013, he was charged with the first-degree murder and dismemberment of his wife, Jennifer McPherson.
Her remains were found scattered on Hanson Island, a remote island south of Port McNeill off the east coast of Vancouver Island.
The couple were caretakers at a fishing lodge there.
Andretti also pleaded guilty to the 2006 slaying of ex-girlfriend Myrna Letandre.
Her dismembered remains were found in a Winnipeg rooming house in 2013.
Saskatchewan corrections officials are now investigating the circumstances surrounding Andretti’s death along with the coroner and Saskatoon Police.
