Jeff Buziak says the Saanich Police Department has reassigned all officers including the lead investigator dedicated to solving the 2008 murder of his daughter Lindsay.
Buziak says he was told of the change by Saanich PD Chief Constable Bob Downie in February when he was back in to mark the eighth anniversary of Lindsay’s murder.
“I’m gutted, I’ve been in shock since then,” he said in an interview from Calgary tonight.
“I think they’re not pressuring the issue anymore, I think they’re just sitting there hoping somebody comes in with some information that helps them,” he said.
“I don’t think they’re actively trying to solve the case.”
Lindsay Buziak, a real estate agent, was repeatedly stabbed while at a Saanich home she was showing in February 2008.
Police believe the 24-year old was lured to the empty home on De Sousa Place by what she thought were prospective buyers.
More than eight years later and despite a massive investigation, no one has been brought to justice for her murder.
Her father says knowing Saanich Police had officers working on the case had offered him some comfort.
“It was good for me to be able to call and say “how are you doing?” even if I just heard the same message every time that they had full-time people working on this,” he said.
“I needed to hear that on a regular basis.”
