It was a long-standing piece of history in the B.C. Capital, but the large Douglas fir flag pole at Victoria’s Cenotaph came down today.
It was quite the sight this morning, as a massive crane truck was brought in to take the flag pole down.
It’s stood on the grounds of the B.C. Legislature for almost 120 years.
But the condition of the pole was no longer very good.
Its removal is part of an major repair and upgrade project at the cenotaph
It’s hoped the work will be completed ahead of this year’s Remembrance Day ceremonies
