$3.8 million in two donations benefit Victoria Hospice
A couple of big gifts for the Victoria Hospice this summer.
The Hospice received two donations worth three point eight million dollars.
Staff and volunteers acknowledged the donations this morning.
The estate of former financial planer Judy Kedwell donated $1.4 million.
Former Times Colonist reporter Lloyd Barrett left the Hospice $2.4 million.
Rob Gareau says the donations will help the organization provide needed services.
“We certainly weren’t expecting it.
So when you do your budget at the end of the year for the next year these will go a long way.
Because every year we are on a treadmill because we have to raise fifty per cent of our costs from funding.
So this gives us a bit of maybe a breathing space to focus on other things and priorities.”
The Victoria Hospice deals with over 500 people at their inpatient facility every year.
