Its been more than a year since students at a Saanich peninsula school learned that $40,000 for a new playground had been stolen by a member of the parent advisory council.
Now that brand new playground is finally a reality, it was unveiled at Keating Elementary this evening.
Garden Tree and Landscape donated the playground and Peninsula Co-op kicked in $30,000 to help replace the stolen funds.
“I’m very proud, no one sat back and thought nothing great would happen,” said principal Mary Lynn Heron.
“We just moved forward and I’m very proud of everyone for that.”
Students are giving the new playground a glowing review but with the odd hiccup.
“Well I got one piece of wood stuck in my finger but, other than that, its fantastic.” said one girl.
Splinters aside, its hoped, after a long wait, the playground will provide fun for years to come.
