You couldn’t have asked for better weather as the Victoria Goddess Run celebrated it’s 5th Anniversary this weekend.
More than 1,500 runners and walkers came out to the popular weekend-long event, which attracts people from right across Canada.
For many it is their first race, and whether they were taking on the 5-, 10-, or 15-kilometre courses, there was a huge sense of pride for everyone crossing the finish line.
The event isn’t just a way to stay active, it’s also a major fundraiser.
“We wanted to give back to women’s charities, so we chose the Victoria Women’s Sexual Assault Centre, Victoria Women’s Transition House and KidSport Active Girls program,” said race director Cathy Noel.
“Over the past four years, not including this year, we’ve raised over 150,000 dollars for those charities.”
Despite its name the Goddess Run isn’t just about running. Other weekend activities included a “putting for pearls” contest, a fun bathrobe run, evening yoga and a concert.
