HarbourCats’ McKillican earns PoW honours, dominating so far this season

The ace of the Victoria HarbourCats rotation just so happens to be from the Island.

Comox Valley’s Adam McKillican was named the West Coast League Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season, posting two wins giving up just one run while striking out seven batters over those two games. On the season, McKillican is an impressive 3-0 with a 1.69 ERA and has even closed out a game for the ‘Cats.

McKillican also plays college ball at UBC, just a boat ride away from home. Adam says it’s a blessing to be able to stay close to home while chasing his dreams.

“I was excited,” McKillican says looking back on when he found out he was going to be a HarbourCat.  “I grew up coming to a few of these games, I saw these guys out here and, to be on the island that I was born on, for summer ball, there’s really no better way things could’ve turned out for me.”

While the season hasn’t exactly gone to plan for the HarbourCats, McKillican’s pitching has been a highlight of this team’s season and hopefully will spark a winning streak to send the ‘Cats back into the playoffs for the second straight year.
