Police say that a good samaritan who stopped to help an accident victim is in hospital after being stabbed and having his truck stolen overnight.
It happened at about 4:20 this morning on the Inland Island Highway (Highway 19) about 2 kilometers north of Exit 60 for Qualicum Beach.
The victim told police that he’d stopped to lend assistance at a single vehicle collision and then was stabbed by the driver of the vehicle that he had stopped to help.
After stabbing the motorist, the suspect stole his truck and fled from the scene, travelling southbound on the highway.
The victim was taken to hospital, there is no word on his injuries or condition.
Police are now searching for the suspect and a stolen 2015 Chevrolet Silverado, similar to the one pictured above, with BC license plates numbered KA6895.
The suspect is described as 5’7″ and possibly of Asian descent, wearing a white jacket possibly with camouflage.
Police say if you see the suspect or the truck, don’t approach and call 911.
