Victoria Foundation Day marks the Society’s 80th anniversary
Thousands took advantage of The Victoria Foundation’s anniversary present to the community today.
Free admission to 25 local attractions across the capital region.
The crowds lined up before the doors opened at Boulders Climbing Gym, all taking advantage of the day.
George Gretes says it’s an opportunity for those new to climbing.
“So we’re hoping that people who have never been here before can come out and experience the world of climbing or just experience our gym which is very different from some of the other gyms in Victoria.”
It is one of the 25 non-profits that opened up at no charge to the public today in celebration of the Victoria Foundation’s birthday.
According to Mark Loria with the Shaw Centre for the Salish Sea in Sidney, people got into the spirit of the day.
“Yeah, we’ve had almost 800 people in the first two hours so it’s an incredible amount of people.”
The Victoria Foundation is this region’s largest non-government funder, granting over $15 million annually to worthy causes.
