Sunday is the final day of the Flamenco Festival at Centennial Square, a celebration of Spanish music in downtown Victoria.
The spirit of Spanish flamenco music has been drifting through Victoria’s downtown this week, and today was the last day of the Flamenco Festival at Centennial Square.
Local and regional dancers and even a group from Seville took to the stage to showcase their moves and talent.
The event got underway on Monday offering daily free and paid performances as well as a few workshops.
It’s a chance for flamenco artists and students to develop and share their passion for the Spanish dance.
“Support from the crowd has been fantastic,” says Flamenco student Lauri Garcia-Meredith.
“Any time anyone is on stage it seems to be an incredible draw something about the flamenco rhythm it just draws everybody, so from people who are real enfiestado to just tourists wandering through, they all seem to come and join in.”
“It’s been a wonderful gathering in that way.”
