A fishing guide was rescued and taken to hospital in Comox today after he fell off a small vessel in the Pacific Ocean about 13 nautical miles west of the Kyuquot channel.
A Canadian Coast Guard crew plucked the man who was wearing a lifejacket out of the waters off of northwest Vancouver Island about three hours after the fishing boat sent out a “man overboard” distress call.
The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Victoria also called in the 442 Transport and Rescue Squadron from CFB Comox who hoisted the man from the Coast Guard rescue boat into a CH-149 Cormorant helicopter to transport him back to shore.
He was then taken by ambulance to hospital.
There is no word on his condition.
