A fire destroyed a legal marijuana grow operation in Duncan today.
Fire crews were called to storage facility on Highway 1 at Sprott Road at about 1 pm.
The fire started within five units at the facility that housed a legal marijuana grow op according to North Cowichan, South End Fire Chief Scott Henning.
He says the structure was fully involved when firefighters arrived on scene.
There was no one on the premises at the time and crews were hampered by thick steel shutters used to guard against thieves that were locked and prevented quick access.
30 firefighters from North Cowichan and Duncan fought the flames for four hours.
No one was injured and damage was limited to the five units.
Chief Henning says the the fire is not considered suspicious at this time.
The investigation will continue tomorrow.
