Malahat fire crews swept a one hectare fire with retardant Saturday night battling a small wildfire near Goldstream Heights.
Malahat fire crews battled a small wildfire near Goldstream Heights yesterday evening.
About 23 firefighters battled the blaze which was one hectare in size, with flames reaching the hip length height.
Two air tankers swept the area with fire retardant which helped slow the growth and allowed crews to put it out.
A helicopter and truck with a water tanker were also on scene.
It happened on a wide open area where trees were spread far apart, so there was minimal damage and no structures were affected.
The Coast Fire Centre says the fire was human caused and is reminding people to be extra cautious this time of year.
