WATCH: Victoria Police blocked off parts of Kings Rd. Sunday, calling for a man to surrender from his home. Isabelle Raghem reports.
Loud bangs were heard across the Oaklands area Sunday morning, as Victoria Police tried to get a man “considered armed and dangerous” to come out of his house.
Neighbours say the standoff at 1703 Kings Rd. began around 2:30 a.m.
By noon, some Kings Rd. residents — who had evacuated from their homes at 7 a.m.– remained unable to return.
The Emergency Response Team remained on the scene throughout the day, along with a K9 unit and later bringing in robotics.
By Sunday evening, little information was given to the public in regards to the standoff — a contrast to a tweet sent out by the force this morning saying more information would be made available.
We will have more details about the Kings Rd incident later in the day #yyj

Around 1 p.m., a robot was sent to inspect the property.
Shortly after, half a dozen officers – some armed with guns — entered the house but came out without a suspect.
Victoria Police have not said what led to the incident and what charges the man faces.
It’s unknown whether or not the suspect is considered a danger to public safety.
