An apple a day keeps the doctor away, but some Saanich residents are hoping an omelet today will help kids play.
The “Eggs Benefit” fundraiser was held in Saanich today to raise money for Copley Park.
The park’s playground was vandalized by arsonists last year.
Celebrity chefs were on hand to prepare hundreds of “made to order” omelettes, with all the proceeds going towards a new playground for the kids.
“You know it’s not fair for kids to not have a playground,” said Rick Boomer of the Saanich Baptist Church, “You got this beautiful weather today too of which we’re really thankful for, but the kids need a place to play and it’s unfair that somebody else deemed it not necessary, I think it’s necessary.”
The new playground will cost $75,000, with Saanich kicking in the majority of the funding.
