Artist Beverly Petow’s medium of choice is the same material that bridges & trains are constructed from.
Petow’s creations are fascinating & intriguing but for many, the best part is watching them being fabricated…the grinding, welding & steel cutting with aggressive equipment like a plasma cutter. Her comfort level using all these tools comes from her youth, hanging out around her Dad’s mechanic shop.
She has been creating art all of her life but about 15 years old she took up steel work and upon the death of a life long friend, she began her series creating metal dresses.
Many of these will be on display starting this weekend at Abkhazi Gardens on Fairfield Rd in Victoria.
