A University of Victoria student who pleaded guilty to dangerous driving for a crash that killed his friend will be going to jail.
A police crash analyst estimated Anurag Grover was driving 130 kilometres an hour down Blanshard Street when he lost control and hit a light standard at bay street in February 2014.
His passenger and good friend, Amandip Sidhu, was killed instantly. Grover pleaded guilty to dangerous driving causing death and has now been sentenced to 15 months in jail. The judge said Grover was remorseful, and will return to India once he has served his sentence.
