Abused collie’s from Northern BC are recaptured after breaking out of their Highlands foster home
The two dogs, originally rescued from a farm north of Quesnel, spent 61 days on the lamb and ending up 16 kilometres from their new home.
Penny Stone and faithful volunteers from the Victoria Humane Society spent the last two months tracking down these frightened pups and on Sunday, finally captured them in a huge 15 foot long trap.
“The trick in this case, ” said Stone, “was to capture both dogs at once and yesterday(Sunday) we got it done.”
Laverne & Shirley were mistreated by their former owner and subsequently are suffering emotional stress. Neither dog will interact with humans and Stone says they will need to be fostered for months, maybe years, before they can be adopted out.
After 61 days on the lose, then being captured on Sunday, Stone says, “Yes, maybe it is an Easter miracle.”
